Changwon Park, trombone

Bass Trombonist Changwon Park is currently a sophomore at the New England Conservatory of Music. Before moving to Boston, Changwon graduated from Seoul Arts High School and studied with Jong Se Park. He is currently in the studio of James Markey, of the Boston Symphony. In May of 2014, Changwon placed first in the Star Music Competition and as a result, played a recital for the Yamaha Youth Concert Series. In addition, he has also played a solo recital as part of the Kumho Young Artist in October of 2014. In July of 2015, he had placed second in the 32nd Busan Music Competition. Shortly after, he went to Hong Kong Slider Asia and won the Bass Trombone solo competition. Last year, he was a finalist in the International Trombone Festival George Roberts bass trombone completion. Later that same year, in August, Changwon went to the Jeju International Brass Competition and won second place in the bass trombone division. In addition to competitions, Changwon has performed with the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National University of Music Wind Orchestra, and the Wool Trombone Ensemble. Changwon is currently a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
