Jasmine Pai, Cello

Jasmine Pai, originally from Tenafly, New Jersey, has been playing the cello since the age of four. She studied with Madeleine Golz at the Manhattan School of Music pre-college division, earned her Bachelor’s degree with Hans Jorgen Jensen at the Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree with Yeesun Kim at the New England Conservatory. She has placed first in numerous competitions including the Queens Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist competition, Vivo International Music Competition, Lyra Competition, and the American Music Teachers’ League competition, and was a prizewinner of the Manhattan School of Music Concerto Competition, the International Virtuoso Competition, the New York Music Competition, and the Greenwich Village Orchestra Concerto Competition.
Jasmine has played for artists such as Carter Brey, Colin Carr, Rafael Figueroa, Timothy Eddy, Alisa Weilerstein, Lynn Harrell, Laurence Lesser, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Clive Greensmith, Natasha Brofsky, and Nick Canellakis. As an avid chamber musician, Jasmine has played for Jennifer Higdon, Emanuel Ax, and members of the Borromeo Quartet, Dover Quartet, Shanghai Quartet, Miro Quartet, Brentano Quartet, and Boston Trio. Jasmine’s festival appearances include the Hotchkiss Summer Portal Chamber Music Program, Killington Music Festival, Great Mountains Music Festival, the Young Artist Program at the National Arts Centre of Ottawa, the Sarasota Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival.
