Born in Amman, Jordan, Lauren Lai began her violin studies at the age of 6. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she studied with Milan Vitek, and a Masters of Music from Northwestern University where she studied with Almita Vamos.
Lauren has taught private violin lessons for many years, and is a Suzuki certified violin teacher. A passionate believer in the power of music to transform lives, she has organized and conducted two tours in the Middle East to help bring healing through music to refugees. She especially loves working with children and seeks to instill in all her students a love of music and the tools they will need to be positive communicators and caring members of society for the rest of their lives.
Lauren lives in Lincoln Park with her husband violist Danny and their two cats, Winter and Autumn. She maintains an avid performing career as a chamber musician and orchestral performer, appearing regularly with many ensembles in and around Chicago.
