Mary O’Keefe, Oboe

Mary O’Keefe is working towards her graduate degree at the New England Conservatory, studying with BSO principal oboist John Ferrillo. As a freelance musician in Boston, she has played with Boston Modern Opera Project, A Far Cry, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, Chorus pro Musica, and more. This past year, she was one of the winners of the Borromeo Quartet Guest Artist Award, performing with the quartet in Jordan Hall. She is dedicated to exploring the intersection of music and social justice through current work as an intern for Music for Food and previous projects organizing benefit concerts for the Nature Conservancy and the ACLU. Mary is also a strong supporter of contemporary music, performing twice with the Callithumpian Consort and performing Xenakis’s “Dmaathen” for NEC’s 150th Anniversary Chamber Music Gala. Outside of music, Mary is a power thrifter, baby carrot enthusiast, and Cleveland sports survivor.
