Born in Barcelona, from a family of musicians, he studied flute, composition and conducting at the Barcelona Music Conservatory. Later he obtained a DMA at the Florida State University.
He has been guest conductor at many international orchestras (USA, Germany, Czechoslovakia, South Africa, Israel, Italy, Venezuela, Colombia, South Korea), and artistic director of the Oregon Sinfonietta, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Portland State University Orchestra, university where he also taught counterpoint, music literature and history, and conducting.
In Spain he has been artistic director of orchestras in Barcelona and Mallorca.
As a composer he has written over 150 pieces, mostly orchestral and chamber music, and has won many awards. His concertos for flute, cello, viola, guitar, oboe have been premiered with great success, as well as his 6 Symphonies and his many chamber music works.
