As part of Chamber Music Monterey Bay’s Youth Leaders Concert, students from Santa Catalina School, Monterey Academy of Oceanographic Science of Monterey High School, and Stevenson School will perform a program of Vivaldi, Shostakovich, William Grant Still, and more to benefit the Food Bank for Monterey County. Food Bank for Monterey County provides food and fresh produce to more than 160 nonprofits in Monterey County, serving around 15,000 people every week!

On the importance of inspiring young musicians, CMMB’s Artistic Director Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu states:

“Music can be influential beyond culture and enrichment. It can respond to and address social problems. Students who participate in these civic engagement concerts can be empowered through seeing the influence of their own music beyond excellence of performance. We hope it also encourages entrepreneurship and inspires these students to one day step into initiating their own programs with their own creativity in the future, whether it's for charity, community building, music, or career, by putting ideas into actions, and collaborating with people, which I believe are essential life skills in the paradigm of the world today.”

Wu and pianist Eun Ha Chung will also perform on this concert.
