Join us at Chatham University for an afternoon of Romantic Piano Masterpieces by Robert Schumann, featuring pianist David Allen Wehr. This program presents three of Schumann’s most beloved works, exuberant, virtuosic, and tuneful, all written in his twenties. “Papillons” was inspired by the writings of the French author Jean Paul, the “David’s-League Dances” are consumed with the composer’s new-found passion for Clara Wieck, and the Symphonic Etudes are a monument to his obsession with developing piano technique to the highest possible levels of difficulty.
David Allen Wehr is Dean of the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he holds the Jack W. Geltz Distinguished Piano Chair.
Admission is by donation. Cash and checks (made out to the food bank) will be welcomed at the concert. All proceeds will benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
